Here is your SJR 74 update: It has been an up-and-down battle to pass meaningful IP reform this term. It started with the Freedom Caucus Four forcing it out of committee in the Senate and losing their committee positions in the process. Next, the Senate RINOs stripped much of the meat out of the bill before sending it to the House. But in the House, we were able to get the critical components added back in:
- The use of Concurrent Majority Ratification. This is a two-step process that gives ALL Missourians an equal voice in approving Constitutional amendments.
- Prohibits non-citizens from voting on ballot initiatives
- Prohibits any foreign government or political party from influencing or donating money for a ballot initiative
SJR 74 Update: We now have another hurdle in front of us. House Majority Floor Leader Jon Patterson refuses to bring the bill to the floor for a vote!
Action Needed on SJR 74 Now!
Contact Jon Patterson (573-751-0907 or e-mail him at Jonathan.Patterson@house.mo.gov) and tell him to bring SJR 74 to floor.
Why is he doing this?
There are reports that he is telling some people that this isn’t true, but then why hasn’t this vote been scheduled? Actions speak louder than words, especially with our so called Republican Leadership in Jeff City. Read Freedom Principle’s Alert below for more information about why Patterson is working against this important legislation:
Our Constitution is Being Held Hostage!Majority Floor Leader Patterson is Blocking IP Reform. |
Dear Missourians: Our Constitution is being held hostage because of one man! Majority Floor Leader Jonathan Patterson (Dist. 30 – Lee’s Summit). Majority Leader Patterson is refusing to bring SJR 74, a bill to protect our Constitution from left-wing radical groups from forever changing Missouri from a pro-life state to a pro-abortion state that will make California proud. Why is Majority Leader Patterson refusing to bring this bill to the floor? The Majority Floor Leader is controlled by dark-money billionaires from Missouri and Texas who want SJR 74 to fail. They want it to fail because these billionaires believe non-citizens SHOULD be able to vote in our elections. They want to make sure our Constitution can easily be amended to implement things like abortion on demand, transgender surgeries for children, Rank-Choice Voting, gun-grabbing red flag laws, or implementing $20 per hour minimum wage laws on Missouri businesses. SJR 74, if passed by the House and Senate, and approved by the voters in August, will make it harder to amend Missouri’s Constitution just in time for the November election. SJR 74 will require:The use of Concurrent Majority Ratification. This is a two-step process that gives ALL Missourians an equal voice in approving Constitutional amendments.Prohibits non-citizens from voting on ballot initiativesProhibits any foreign government or political party from influencing or donating money for a ballot initiative The pro-abortion-on-demand crowd is close to getting enough signatures to get their initiative petition on the November ballot. If they get their IP on the November ballot and we have not implemented Concurrent Majority Ratification, Missouri could become a blue state overnight. This means four more years of Joe Biden. This means a Democrat governor and a Democrat legislature. It means that abortion will be embedded into our Constitution with no mechanism to change it. Missouri will literally become Illinois or California overnight! We have less than 25 days left in this legislative session to pass SJR 74. Please call Majority Leader Patterson this week at 573-751-0907 or e-mail him at Jonathan.patterson@house.mo.gov and tell him to stand up for Missouri citizens and not out-of-state billionaires. Please contact your state representative and tell them to demand Majority Leader Patterson bring SJR 74 to the floor before any other House business gets completed. We have a great chance to protect our Constitution and Majority Leader Patterson is doing everything he can to prevent this from happening. It is upon us to act. Will you! |
